I have been selected to be one of about a dozen humans on Earth to ride a new motorcycle through Patagonia in Chile and Argentina. I am so stoked about it! This should be the adventure of a lifetime that will undoubtedly be life-changing.
Rally for Ranger Foundation’s mission is to protect the world’s special places one motorcycle at a time. We raise funds to purchase new motorbikes and gear for rangers— which they then use to patrol National Parks. We will be hosting two rallies in 2018 to deliver total of 20 motorcycles to the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park rangers of Mongolia and the National Parks in Patagonia. The only thing more rewarding and exhilarating than riding 1,500 kilometers of dirt, mud, and river bottom is handing over the keys to an (almost) new motorcycle so these rangers can better protect the incredible resources of their national parks. Would you like to join us to make a difference in the lives of our rangers and preservation of a sacred ecosystem?
So how did this all come about you might ask? Quite simply, I asked to join. A month ago or so my friend Dave O'Malley of Aerographics sent me an email with a link to Ralley for Rangers.
I was thinking of you a couple of weeks ago when I heard about this charity… you join guys in Mongolia and personally deliver dirt-bikes to Mongolian Rangers who have no means to acquire them themselves. It’s got your name all over it

Whenever Dave sends me email, I always read them and follow the links. My initial reaction was "yeah, right, as if that will ever happen..." But that thought only lasted about a minute and I delved deeper into site and thought, "who would be better for this?" Well I can think of plenty of people- two of whom are brothers of mine, but I am definately worthy of a shot. I completed the form right there on the spot and pressed the submit button.
One of the questions on the form was "Provide any links to video that demonstrate your riding experience". It just so happens that I have a website where I am documenting my dirt bike related passions and I have several videos posted from my adventures. My reply to that question was:

I will find some more and put them on this page.
Look around on other pages on that site and you will get a feeling for who I am.
A couple years ago when I made this website, it was only for my own enjoyment and if anybody else found it interesting, great. I am just an average guy with passion for playing in the dirt. I am not a great rider (just darn good) and my adventures are not better than anybody else's but these are the stories I tell so why not write them down. It takes a lot of time and effort to write a decent story so I have not been as prolific as I had hoped to be. I may be making an assumption, but my efforts here on vintagemoto.ca are what has caught the attention of the Rally for Rangers Foundation. This is not the first time my efforts have paid off in a totally unexpected fashion. It is time to make this adventure a reality!
There is a fundraising component to this effort of-course. I have to raise $8,500. That is likely US funds so I am rounding that up to $14,000 CAD as my finanace goal. All proceeds will go to Rally for Rangers Foundation.
I am putting together a website for my efforts. Dave O'Malley has made some banners for me.
